And I
wrote.
I was busy. I had NO time, not even for migraines, let alone the luxury of writing.
And yet – writing helped me to live. I noticed that on the days when I wrote something, I was more relaxed, and happier.
Writing let me be myself. This was a paradox. Yes, writing made me happier. But the act of writing made me intensely anxious too. In those days, I hadn't heard of "creative anxiety". When I sat down and faced my IBM Selectric typewriter, my hands shook as I sandwiched carbon paper between two sheets of bond, then rolled them into the machine.
On the one hand, writing made me feel better… so I wrote late at night, and very early in the mornings. On the other hand, each time I sat down to write, I faced intense fear.
If you're going through this same process: you want to write, something within you compels you to write… and yet, when you manage to snatch some minutes to do it you're so anxious you feel physically ill, I sympathize. It's HARD.
Let me make it easier for you. I'm going to share with you the methods I've learned to not only find
time to write, but also to
make writing fun and exciting too.
The simple strategies and techniques I want to share with you have worked for me. Every prolific and successful writer I've spoken with uses some form of these tricks to get their writing done – no matter how busy they are.
